  • Sue Backhouse

    Professor and Director of Research

    Sue is Professor and Director of Research for Sport and Exercise Science, Leisure and Tourism in the Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University.

    Her research in the integrity of sport and the welfare of athletes has attracted funding from the European Commission, World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee.

    Sue is a Chartered Psychologist of the British Psychological Society, and a Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences.

  • Charlotte Cowie

    Specialist in Sport and Exercise Medicine

    Charlotte is a Specialist in Sport and Exercise Medicine with over 25 years’ experience in elite sport.

    She was team physician to the England Women’s Football Squad and has been the Head of Sports Medicine and Science at two Premier League football clubs.

    She has attended three Olympic Games as a TeamGB Medical Officer and been Medical Officer at the LTA and British Taekwondo. She is currently the Head of Medicine at the Football Association.

  • Steve Haake

    Professor of Sports Engineering

    Steve is Professor of Sports Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University with over 30 years of experience in technology and sport.

    He established the Centre for Sports Engineering Research at Sheffield Hallam University, pioneering and leading sports engineering across the globe.

    He has authored over 200 scientific journal papers on the physics and engineering of sport and consulted to industry and elite sports. He currently sits on the International Tennis Federation Technical Commission.

  • James Morton

    Professor of Exercise Metabolism

    James is Professor of Exercise Metabolism at Liverpool John Moores University.

    Having authored over 130 research scientific publications and worked with many elite sports teams, James is a leading expert in the research and application of nutrition and metabolism to manage performance.

    James has held senior roles with Team Sky and Liverpool FC and has supported professional boxers, MMA athletes and jockeys. James also consults to industry, developing customised products for elite athletes.
